This past Sunday was the AFC Championship game and the Patriots were playing the Denver Broncos. I was horribly nervous about the game, because Denver is so good and the Pats have choked in recent playoff history. My fears were realized when the Pats didn’t even show up for the game and had their asses handed to them. In perspective, the team had a great year given the number of injuries and lack of offensive weapons. That said, it suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks losing to a Manning…again. Worse yet, Brady is running out of productive years and I wonder if he’ll ever get back to the Superbowl, let alone win one.

Tonight I’m hunkering down at home while yet another giant snow storm dumps 5-10 inches of snow on us. I’m doing so with a bottle of Thomas Hooker Chocolate Truffle Stout. I picked this up because…well, it’s a chocolate truffle stout! The beer is a milk stout and is 7.1% ABV. The aroma is all chocolate, with perhaps some caramel – terrific. For flavors, things start out chocolatey, but quickly go south for me thereafter. I get a BUNCH of licorice and some alcohol as well.

In the end, I’m really disappointed. It’s not a “drain beer”, but it’s not very good because of the overpowering licorice.
