Revolution Brewing Eugene Porter

Revolution Brewing Eugene Porter

Tonight is one of our only free nights this week. Busy, busy. Last night I completed a 10 mile run and felt pretty good afterward. Today I had no after effects, so I’m stoked. For those not following along, I’m training for a 10-miler that I’m running with Silvio and the wife next month.

I’m still catching up on a backlog of beer reviews from a little get together over a week ago. Revolution Brewing Eugene Porter is tonight’s recap.

My buddy Greg and I tried this. He picked up cherry flavor on the nose, which I thought was quite strange. I didn’t tell him that. He’s one of my most loyal readers, so I suppose the cat is out of the bag now! (sorry Greg) But have no fear, he has been redeemed by the internets, where I found more than one person mentioning a cherry smell or flavor!

The brew is a straightforward, yet solid American porter. It didn’t bring a lot of flash. Greg wasn’t a huge fan and found it a little harsh. I thought it was a great example of the style, but really wasn’t doing much for me. Frankly, I probably just wasn’t in the mood for a porter. Reviews of this beer elsewhere on the internet are VERY high, so I’d actually recommend you ignore Greg and I, and give this one a shot if you’re ever in the Chicago area.
