White Birch Blueberry Berliner Weisse

White Birch Blueberry Berliner Wesisse

Last Wednesday I kicked off the long holiday weekend by inviting new friends Ben & Nicole over to our place to drink and review some beer. I have a number of reviews coming up that feature thoughts from the three of us. Oh, how I do enjoy reviewing beer with other people! It’s a lot cooler than sitting in your kitchen drinking alone.

The first beer we tried was White Birch Blueberry Berliner Weisse. It’s only fair to say that none of us are big fans of White Birch brewing.

This was, perhaps, my first blueberry Berliner. I found it to have a light body with mild carbonation. It started with a huge blueberry aroma and finished with a lemony tartness. I REALLY liked it. Ben, on the other hand, was disappointed. He enjoys fruit beer, but didn’t think the blueberry Berliner lacked something in the flavor department. Nicole, who isn’t a Berliner fan, was surprised at how much she liked the beer, crediting the mild flavors. Funny thing: Ben disliked it due to lack of flavor, Nicole liked it due to less intense flavors.

Finally, my non-beer-drinking wife said “I could drink this!”
