I have to tell you, the last couple of weeks after getting back from Mexico have been a whirlwind. Work has been insane, and evenings and weekends have been packed with plans. The few free hours I’ve had here and there have been spent relaxing in front of the TV, lamenting how I should get off my ass and write a beer review. Well, I’m back in the game!
I’d like to say a lot has happened in my life since I last blogged, but that would be a lie. I worked and slept. I signed up for my first half marathon, scheduled for June. I held an AFC Championship Game party, and the Patriots are going to the Superbowl. I went to a birthday party for my 4-year-old nephew at a bowling alley that could only be described as a run-down crack house. I was struck by no fewer than two skee-balls during this adventure.
Tonight, for the first time this week, I find myself without plans! Melissa and I just got back from a run and now we’re mowing down some pizza while watching the boob tube. I’m pairing the pizza with Moat Mountain Iron Mike. My buddy Norm left this at my place, and I’m going to profusely thank him; it’s amazingly good.
The Iron Mike brings a punch (get it?) of floral, grassy and earthy hops, which are fantastically balanced out by a just the right amount of malt. A solid pale ale, although I will warn that it’s on the hoppier side, as far as pale ales go.
This beer gets bonus points for it’s label, which reads “Everyone loves big cans”. Amen, Mr. Label, amen.
