Jack’s Abby trIPL

Jack's Abby trIPL

Hi folks. Today was the first day in nearly two weeks that I’ve felt anywhere near normal. The flu, which took me out for 4-5 days, turned into a lingering cough that has destroyed me for the better part of another week. On top of that, my wife caught the flu at the end of last week. We both spent the weekend on the couch trying to recover. Melissa went to the doctor today and discovered that in the wake of the flu, she has both a sinus infection and bronchitis. I hate to sit here and complain to you, but after two weeks of being constantly sick…I’m sick of being sick!

I may not be able to stop coughing for more than 20 minutes, but I’m sure I can manage a beer review. Tonight I’m talking about a new release: Jack’s Abby trIPL. The beer recently debuted at a fundraiser I recently wrote about. I tried the beer that evening and loved it, so when I saw it was bottled and available at Julio’s I had to buy it.

Marketed as a triple India pale lager, the beer is technically an imperial pilsner. It has a solid malt backbone, which nicely balances out a ton of citrus/tropical hops. A hint of piney hops adds an extra zing. This is yet another home-run beer from Jack’s Abby. I’m sure I sound like a broken record or a “homer” here; I do nothing but gush about Jack’s. But hey, I call ’em like I see ’em, and these guys know how to make beer. I do warn you, this brew is 10% ABV and will knock you on your ass if you’re not diligent. Aside from the tipsy-factor, which might impede drinking this on an evening where you are designated driver, I highly trying out the trIPL.
