Clown Shoes Hoppy Feet 2.0

Today after work I banged out a solid 7.65 mile run. It was my best run of the year so far. The wife and I are training for a half marathon that takes place in just over a month. To this point I had struggled to get to even 5 miles, as I brushed off the rust from a long winter. It felt good to nail this run and do it in good time.

To celebrate I broke out a bottle of Clown Shoes Hoppy Feet 2.0. The beer is an American black ale style brew (a.k.a. black IPA). The black IPA remains one of my favorite styles. This particular version I’m not crazy about, and I can tell you exactly why. I like my black IPAs well balanced; I want to tastes the hops and I want to taste the roasted malts. I don’t want one to significantly overpower the other. The Hoppy Feet 2.0 comes across to me with mostly roasted malt flavors. I get bitter coffee notes, and an unexpected blast of orange peel. The hops that are there aren’t jiving for me and are lost in the coffee flavor. Sorry folks, this one is a “meh” for me.

As promised, I’m giving away Freakers with each post until I run out. Today you have another shot at one of the remaining drink insulators. The first person to comment below wins!
