Good evening everyone. I can’t believe this week has flown by so quickly, thanks to the long holiday weekend. Speaking of weekends, this coming weekend is a big one for us, as we will be running our first ever half marathon. Training has gone to plan and me and Melissa are ready to rock. Luckily, the recent humidity and heat will break by Sunday. Unluckily, it will also be raining. If I had to choose between the two, I’d still take the rain, but it’s not ideal. I’ll just consider it an extra challenge. And the upside – no fear of sunburn!
Tonight I’m drinking a can of Notch Saison. I’m a rabid Notch fan, with Notch Left of the Dial IPA being my go-to “drinking beer”. And as far as saisons go (not my favorite style), the Notch Saison is probably my favorite. If you’re looking for a serious farmhouse saison, with uber notes of pepper and spice, this isn’t what you’re looking for. It is quite the opposite actually. At a light 4.1% ABV, it starts smooth with a biscuity malty flavor. It ends with a unmistakable, but light Belgian spice flavor. Like other Notch brews, the Notch Saison will disappear before you know it; immensely drinkable.
