Hogback Mountain Drake, Smith and Co

Hogback Mountain Drake, Smith and Co

Howdy-Ho LIBA readers. Tonight I hit the gym again. We’re into a nice routine now, getting our exercise on at least 3 times a week. Last week I went 5 times! After a tasty dinner, we’re sitting down to watch the new X-Files. If you watched the show in the 90s, and you haven’t watched the new episodes, stop what you’re doing RIGHT NOW and go get caught up. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. All the same feel from the original series, with a new twist.

I’m pairing this episode with Hogback Mountain Drake, Smith and Co., a late Christmas gift from my mother. The beer is a brown ale with a 5.4% ABV. The brewery is in Bristol, VT and this is the first time I’ve had a beer from them. The Drake, Smith and Co. is quite malty, as you would probably expect from a brown ale. It’s also slightly nutty, perhaps with a hint of earthy hops on the finish. It makes for a fairly standard brown. OK, but not my favorite style.
