Bent Hill Valencia Lemon Ginger Imperial IPA

Bent Hill Valencia Lemon Ginger Imperial IPA

Today was “interesting”. Things were going quite normal, until Melissa called me at work – something she rarely does, and something that almost certainly means bad news. And indeed, it wasn’t good news – a flat tire. Rather than have her call AAA and wait 2 hours, I canceled the meetings on my calendar and drove 20 minutes to come to the rescue. We got the tire changed out and were able to get a new tire the same day. Tonight we’re watching The Hateful 8, a Quentin Tarantino movie. Although his movies are far too violent, we both enjoy them. He’s probably my favorite director, after Ridley Scott, of course.

Tonight I’m drinking Bent Hill Valencia Lemon Ginger Imperial IPA. Honestly, I wasn’t looking forward to trying this one. I mean, ginger AND lemon? In an imperial IPA? Sounds like someone is trying too hard. HOWEVER, after a few sips, my opinion has completely changed. The brew comes across as delightfully citrusy and the ginger flavor is barely noticeable. Citrusy hops come bursting through, with a nice malty balance to boot. Color me shocked. Very good beer.
