Today we ran our half marathon. Neither of us had trained as well as we would have liked, but we persevered and finished. For me, I had hoped to do as well as last year’s time (1 hour and 38 minutes), but knew that was going to be a real long shot. I figured, worst case, I could finish in 1 hour and 45 minutes, roughly equal to running an average of 8 minutes per mile. I ended up with a time of 1 hour 46 minutes, coming up bunk against both goals. Whatever, I finished the damn thing with a respectable time, and that’s all that matters!
Yesterday we went to the in-laws to celebrate Father’s Day. We gave my wife’s dad a hammock, which he seemed to like. We also shared a bottle of Not Your Father’s Vanilla Cream Ale, which the folks at the brewery were kind enough to send me.
Small Town Not Your Father’s Vanilla Cream Ale is the newest soda-inspired beer from the Small Town Brewery. We all liked the stuff. Both me and my father-in-law thought it tasted strongly of cream ale, but the flavor profile quickly shifted to a strange beer-ish flavor. We both like the initial taste, but it took a while to warm up to the after-taste. Melissa thought it tasted just like soda, and thought it was every bit as good as the Not Your Father’s Root Beer.
