Black Hog Easy Rye’ Da

Black Hog Easy Rye' Da

Hi folks. Hope you’re all having a great week. For me, the week is flying by yet again. Right now I’m kind of giddy, as my year-long addiction to Elder Scrolls Online is about to get significantly worse, courtesy a huge update coming out for the game today. My Xbox is downloading the update as I type! It’s going to be a sleepless night, methinks.

Tonight I’m headed off to church for our normal Tuesday routine. I wanted to bang out a review first, without getting trashed.

Enter Black Hog Easy Rye’ Da, an session-able 4.8% ABV American IPA. This is my first ever beer from the Black Hog brewery. I’m a huge fan of session IPAs, and this one brings an extra interesting twist, leveraging rye. The beer is REALLY light in body and flavor, perhaps too much. Everything is muted, making it difficult to pick up much in the way of any flavor. Honestly, besides a little malt up front, followed by a twinge of hops in the finish, the beer is super boring. But hold the phone, as I’m about to blow your mind….I like this beer. I would file this one under: “mindlessly crushable”. In other words, I could see drinking a bunch of these at a cookout, hanging with friends at the beach, etc. Perhaps even a good “introductory” beer for the average Budweiser drinker.
